This is a service offered by the UAB to give additional language support to the university community and to promote linguistic and cultural diversity.

The service offers the opportunity to learn, or perfect seven languages (German, English, Catalan, Spanish, French, Italian and Japanese) and to improve communication skills in academic and professional fields. Making a presentation, giving opinions, writing reports, preparing a CV and preparing for a job interview are just some of the options available. The Service also offers a programme of cultural and linguistic support for mobile students and all other newcomers who are spending time at our university.

Users of the service can choose the study method that best adapts to their needs: attendance-based courses, if regular class attendance is desired; semi-distance learning, if flexibility and independence are important and e-learning for maximum freedom of learning. The Service also offers resources for self-study, which allows the users to fix their own learning goals with the support of a tutor.

Most of the courses on are eligible for free-choice credits and successful students are awarded certificates by the Language Service.

The Service also awards 90 grants annually which amount to a 50% reduction in the course fee.
